Doreen, thank you so much for your question! The examples I'm going to share with you, transcend ethnicity and faith; this is not specifically for Muslims. I named my first book, Psychological War: The Battles of a Young BlackMan, although the battles are relevant to all young men regardless of ethnicity; however, I was a confused child with an identity crisis, wherein I was treated like I wasn't Black enough by members of my Black family, and treated like I was too Black by a certain member of my German/Indian family.

To summarize: I became a thief early in life. I explored sex too soon (at age 14). That same year, I sold crack cocaine, had sex with crack addicts, became an alcohol, and was convicted of a felony for assault with a deadly weapon (baseball bat) and robbery, during a car theft.

That felony prevented me from joining the military when I was 17. I couldn't believe I had already ruined my career opportunities as a child. A few years later, as a 19 year old, I began stealing cars and selling crack again. I never got caught selling drugs (thank Allah), but I did get arrested once again for stealing a car, this time I robbed a car salesman at gunpoint. I was sentenced to 9 years in prison.

2.5  years into serving my time, I explored homosexuality, while I was studying Islam. Being ashamed of my betrayal, I attempted to purify my mind and body by fasting, but I was so hard on myself that I became delusional and attempted suicide (1995). I have more to share, but the comment box limits me to 2000 characters.

Doreen, I'd be honored to do the interview for your book! And I see you live in Southern Cali as well; would you like to meet in person? Here's my number 951-289-1123.

Doreen, I admire that you are not a blind sheep, following because you are told to do so. You have made up your own mind concerning the man Jesus, as far as I can tell. Nevertheless, that doesn't take away from his great example, of which I am still learning to emanate. Although I grew up in a Christian household (allegedly, hahaaa) I was never a Jesus freak. I challenged what was told to me as a teenager, and at 19 years of age, I accepted Islam. Thanks for sharing your position with me! Now, when are we going to have this interview?
